Born in New York City, Luciana Duce-Dugan is a first generation Italian-American whose cultural and spiritual roots continue to shape her life and her art.As a child, surrounded by a creative and passionate family, Luciana played in her immigrant grandfather’s carpenter shop while her mother sewed beautiful one-of -a kind aprons that she displayed in the shop window for sale. “To me,” Luciana remembers, “those organdy aprons with rich-colored floral appliques hanging in the dusty window were magnificent works of art.” In the afternoons, covered with sawdust and carpenter’s glue, wrapped in pieces of left-ever fabric and ric-rac, Luciana eagerly awaited...
